Those craving a blast from the past can check out the Zellers food trucks rolling into Mississauga, Burlington and St. Catharines this weekend.

Hudson’s Bay Company announced the return of small Zellers shops in 25 communities across Canada this year. The Zellers will be inside Hudson’s Bay stores and will be between 8,000 – 10,000 square feet, depending on the location.

Zellers, including in Mississauga, Burlington and St. Catharines, opens March 23.

To celebrate the opening, Zellers is bringing back some of the diner dishes from the old Skillet restaurant.

After asking customers to vote on popular dishes from the past, the “Zellers Diner on wheels” menu will have five items: the Big Z Burger, hot chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken fingers, and fries and gravy.

And the food trucks will arrive at some locations on opening day, Thursday, March 23.

However, the food truck won’t arrive in Mississauga until Saturday, March 25 at 11:30 a.m. The truck is expected outside the Erin Mills Town Centre Hudson’s Bay, 5100 Erin Mills Parkway. The Zellers is on level two, access via the upper mall entrance.

In Burlington and St. Catharines, the food trucks arrive on Sunday, March 26 at 11:30 a.m.

The Zellers in the Burlington Mall is on level two of the Hudson’s Bay, 777 Guelph Line. Access via entrance #4 inside the mall.

In St. Catharines, the Zellers will be on level one of the Hudson’s Bay at Pen Centre Shopping Plaza, 221 Glendale Ave. Access via exterior door #2.

For the opening at each location on March 23, there will be a DJ who will start playing at 8 a.m. with giveaways before the stores open at 10 a.m.

Although the food trucks are scheduled for one day only, if customers embrace the comeback – the Zellers Diner on wheels may head out for a cross-Canada tour.
