Woman sexually assaulted on University of Guelph campus by Brampton man, police say

The sexual assault of a woman on the University of Guelph campus has led to charges for a Brampton man who police say is not a student of the school.

The Guelph Police Service said the attack happened on Wednesday around 7:30 p.m. when a female was followed into the university library by a male unknown to her.

Police said the woman was sexually assaulted by the man and reported the incident to members of the Campus Safety Office.

Campus security located and arrested the suspect shortly before 9 p.m., and police say the 28-year-old man from Brampton has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

Police say the man is not a student of the University of Guelph. His name has not been released.
