Police are investigating after a woman was attacked on the University of Toronto Mississauga campus on Sunday afternoon.

A University of Toronto online alert was posted to the school community in the wake of the assault, which reportedly took place inside the Communication, Culture and Technology building at about 2:30 p.m.

UTM Campus Safety Team officials said in the alert that “an unknown male physically overtook and assaulted a female on the second floor” of the building before fleeing the area.

The victim is reportedly a student at the Mississauga Road campus, which during the summer months is much less populated compared to fall, winter and spring terms.

The suspect is described by U of T officials as being about 19 to 23 years old, 6-feet, with a slim build and short black hair with a tanned complexion. He was wearing black rimmed glasses and a blue polo shirt, and carried a black knapsack.

The UTM Campus Safety Team said it issued the alert in order to “make the U of T community aware of a recent safety concern.”

The alert continued: “We encourage all members of our community to exercise vigilance and to report any behaviour of concern to Campus Safety.”

Peel Regional Police said in an email to INsauga.com the victim suffered minor physical injuries in the assault.
