A Mississauga resident was in disbelief after checking her ticket for a lottery win.
Susan Maguire of Mississauga won $50,000, the second prize in the ONTARIO 49 Oct. 2 draw, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said in a press release.
Maguire has been playing ONTARIO 49, the only game she plays, with OLG for many years, she told OLG.
She said she always uses OLG’s quick pick feature to make her selections and has won smaller prizes over the years, but nothing could have prepared her for the thrill of winning $50,000.
“I had just woken up and decided to check my ticket,” Maguire said at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “When I saw the prize amount, I was in disbelief! I think I scanned my ticket three more times, just to be sure.”
She added that family members also didn’t believe it.
“When I showed my mom, she said, ‘Wow!’ and asked, ‘Whose ticket is that?’ I said, ‘It’s mine!’ She just couldn’t believe it,” Maguire said. “Winning this prize was a shock to me too, after all these years of playing.”
Maguire is now looking forward to a nice vacation.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Erin Mills Town Centre Lottery Centre on Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga.
