When is leaf pickup in Mississauga this year?

The City of Mississauga is starting its annual Fall leaf pickup.
Every year in the Fall, the City provides vacuum leaf pickup on streets that are more than 35 years old and have many mature trees, the City’s website notes.
Residents who live in an area that is part of the leaf pickup program are advised to rake leaves into a neat pile on the edge of the road or into their ditch a day or two before the collection week is set to begin.
The road and curbside drain should be kept clear of leaves, while parked cars and any sports equipment should be removed from the road.
The City said items such as wood, brush or bricks can’t be mixed in with the leaves and any garbage bags or bins shouldn’t be placed on top of the leaves.
The City has broken down the areas scheduled for collection into three zones: yellow, blue and green, with yellow set to begin this week.
Here is a look at the schedule:
Yellow Zone
- Oct. 28 to Nov. 1
- Nov. 18 to Nov. 22
Blue Zone
- Nov. 4 to Nov. 8
- Nov. 25 to Nov. 29
Green Zone
- Nov. 11 to Nov. 15
- Dec. 2 to Dec. 6

Rain or snowfall could impact the schedule, officials noted.
If someone misses the leaf pickup or more leaves fall after the vacuums come, residents can place leaves in yard waste bags for when they’re collected, or drop off the yard waste at a recycling centre, where fees apply.
“You can compost your leaves or spread them around the base of your trees to fertilize the soil by protecting it against extreme temperatures,” the City said.
