A number of Porsches have been recalled in Canada because their wheels could fall off, officials say.
“On certain vehicles, the center wheel lock(s) may not have been manufactured properly,” a recall notice from Transport Canada says.
“As a result, the wheel lock(s) could break and cause the wheel(s) to separate from the vehicle.”
Officials said the recall only relates to certain vehicles that have optional central locking wheels.
The following models are affected:
Make | Model | Model Year(s) Affected |
---|---|---|
PORSCHE | 718 SPYDER | 2024 |
PORSCHE | 911 CARRERA | 2024 |
PORSCHE | 911 GT3 | 2024 |
PORSCHE | 911 TARGA | 2024 |
PORSCHE | 911 TURBO | 2024 |
If a wheel separates, it could cause the driver to lose control, it increases the risk of a crash, and poses a risk to others, Transport Canada said.
Those who have an affected vehicle were advised to not drive it until repairs are completed.
“Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact a dealer to arrange to have the vehicle towed to the dealership,” the recall said.
“The dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the center wheel lock(s).”
The government said 332 units are affected.
