Civic Holiday in Mississauga: What’s open and closed on Monday, Aug. 5

Christmas Day falls on a Wednesday this year so you can expect some closures in Brampton in the middle of the holiday week.

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed in Brampton on Christmas Day — Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024:


Open:

  • All critical services including Fire and Emergency Services, Traffic Services and By-Law Enforcement.
  • Outdoor skating rinks like the Chinguacousy Park Skating Recreational Trail and Gore Meadows Covered Outdoor Skating Rink.
  • Select recreation centres will be open with modified hours
  • Brampton Transit will be running on a reduced schedule
  • Some restaurants will be open for dine-in and/or takeout. Residents are encouraged to call ahead.
  • Some drug stores such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall will be open. Check individual stores for hours.
  • Region of Peel emergency shelters and Street Helpline (1-877-848-8481).

Closed:

  • Bramalea City Centre.
  • Shoppers World.
  • All major grocery stores like Metro and Longo’s.
  • All major malls.
  • All Brampton Recreation Centres.
  • Government offices
  • Banks.
  • Community Centres.
  • LCBO, Beer Store, and Wine Rack.
  • Federal Government offices.
  • City Hall.
  • Canada Post (no mail pick-up or delivery).
  • Community Recycling Centres.
  • The Brampton Animal Shelter.
  • All Brampton Library branches.
  • Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA).
  • Region of Peel non-emergency services will close starting Dec. 25 and will reopen on Jan. 2:
    • Service Peel Counters
    • Dental Services Contact Centre and Dental Clinics
    • Early Years and Child Care Services
    • Housing Services, Client Services
    • Income and Social Supports
    • Brampton and Fairview Healthy Sexuality Clinics
    • Needle Exchange Program and Harm Reduction – Mobile Van.

Transit

  • Brampton Transit will run on a reduced service schedule.
  • GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule.
  • Brampton Transit Clark and Sandalwood Facilities, including Lost and Found, are closed from Dec. 22 at 12:00 p.m. until Jan 1. The Transit Service Centres and Contact Centre will be closed on Dec. 25.
  • The TransHelp office will be closed and unable to process applications from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1.

Garbage collection in Peel:

  • No waste collection on Dec. 25. Waste will be collected two days later.
  • All Community Recycling Centres will be closed.
