What special events should the Town of Oakville consider hosting?

The future of special events in Oakville is up for discussion.
Are there too many? Not enough? Of what kind do you think the town needs more?
A Special Events Plan is being developed to guide future planning for events in the community.
“Special events bring significant benefits to our community,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton.
“They not only provide entertainment for residents, but they also encourage community engagement, enhance community pride, support the local economy and contribute to the vibrancy and livability of Oakville. Council and I are looking forward to hearing from the community to help shape how special events are delivered in the town.”
An online survey for residents to give their opinion is open until July 8. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is anonymous.
One of the major questions asks what types of special events should the Town of Oakville focus on supporting and/or delivering in the future:
- Family-friendly events
- Arts, music, and performance events
- Food and beverage events
- Nature-based events
- Holiday/seasonal events
- Sport events
- Multicultural/heritage celebrations
Residents are also invited to share their feedback by participating in any of the following online community workshops:
- Tuesday, June 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register for the June 13 workshop.
- Thursday, June 26 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Register for the June 26 workshop.
The Town of Oakville hosts a number of special events each year, including Family Day, Movies in the Park, Canada Day and the Oakville Santa Claus Parade.
The final plan is anticipated to be presented to Council later this year.
