WestJet and Air Canada waiving flight change fees due to coronavirus concerns

Residents who want to change their flight plans due to coronavirus concerns should be pleased to know that two major airlines are making it easier to do just that — at least for a little while.
WestJet is temporarily offering a new policy in which all new flight bookings made between March 5, 2020 and March 31, 2020 will be allowed a one-time change fee waiver, which is available for any itinerary change made more than 14 days from departure.
Air Canada is offering a similar measure (referred to as their goodwill policy) for tickets purchased between certain dates, depending on the destination.
“The safety of our guests, crew and aircraft is WestJet’s top priority and we are committed to providing a safe travel and work environment for our guests and WestJetters,” WestJet says.
“We are in communication with experts for the most up-to-date information and continue to monitor the situation closely.”
Residents who want to take advantage of this new policy should check their airline’s website or contact a representative for more information.
