Commuters in parts of southern Ontario should exercise caution today, as freezing rain warnings have been issued for a number of municipalities.
Environment Canada says a “brief period of freezing rain is expected this afternoon,” with ice build-up of two to four millimetres expected, especially over higher terrain.
The weather agency says the rain is expected to start in the late morning and persist into the afternoon.
It is not expected to persist into the evening.
Although the rain isn’t expected to last, Environment Canada says ice build-up is still possible.
Areas with freezing rain in the forecast include the Dufferin-Innisfil and Grey-Bruce regions and Caledon.
The weather agency says highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery and power outages are possible.
