Weather this week: Rain, sunshine and near-freezing nights headed to Ontario

Get ready, Ontario!

It’s going to be a rainy week with some sunshine, but don’t let the daytime weather fool you. Now might be a good idea to pull those sweaters and jackets out of the closet and maybe even those cozy blankets from storage, as nights are set to dip near freezing across the region.

As of today (Oct. 13), the forecast calls for a mostly cloudy day with a 30 per cent chance rain. Brisk winds are expected at 40 km/h until late evening.

Daytime temperatures will rise to 19 C and by evening the region will cool off to 14 C.

Thanksgiving Monday kicks off with a mix of sun and cloud, with a 70 per cent possibility—very likely—of morning rain. Breezy winds are also anticipated to gust up to 40 km/h and will stick around overnight.

Temperatures will reach 10 C  and the UV index will climb to a moderate level of 3. Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Toward evening, skies are expected to remain mainly cloudy as temperatures fall to a chilly 3 C.

Tuesday will be a predominately cloudy day with a 40 to 60 per cent chance of rain showers throughout the day. Daytime highs will hit 10 C, while evening skies will clear bringing 2 C temperatures.

Clear skies and sunshine return from Wednesday through Saturday with temperatures reaching between 11 C and 18 C, reminiscent of spring. However, fall makes its presence known in the evenings, as temperature are forecasted to slip between 1 C and 4 C.

According to Environment Canada, Ontario residents who live up north might see, even colder conditions of -2 C.
