WEATHER: ‘Significant’ weekend weather forecast with snow and wind in Ontario
Published December 7, 2023 at 9:49 am
The weather could get messy on the weekend across Ontario.
Environment Canada is expecting “significant” weather this weekend.
The winter weather started overnight and into this morning (Dec. 7) with about two to five centimetres of snow in southern Ontario.
That snow is expected to melt in southern Ontario as much of the area hits a high of 4 C today (Dec. 7).
On Friday (Dec. 8) there is a chance of blowing snow along with a risk of freezing rain for parts of northern Ontario.
Southern Ontario, however, should be sunny and clear with a high of 7 C.
The weather turns on the weekend, particularly on Sunday.
The risk of blowing snow and freezing rain continues in northern Ontario on Saturday. Parts of southern Ontario, including Mississauga, Brampton Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton could reach a high of 8 C on Saturday with a chance of showers.
On Sunday, heavy snow is possible for parts of eastern Ontario. The snow may continue into Monday for that part of the province.
Other parts of the province could get rain or flurries on Sunday with much colder temperatures — dropping down to 2 C. The Weather Network is forecasting a possible strong winter storm on Sunday (Dec. 10) for most of the province.
