A blast of winter weather could make for treacherous road conditions in southern Ontario including Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville.
Environment Canada issued a winter weather travel advisory for much of southern Ontario Monday (Dec. 18) into tomorrow morning.
“Rain showers are expected to quickly change to snow this afternoon or evening as colder air moves into southern Ontario,” the advisory reads. “Snow may become heavy at times this evening or overnight.”
Snowfall amounts of four to eight centimetres are expected.
There could be reduced visibility with the heavy snow and local blowing snow. Northwest winds could gust from 50 to 60 km/h.
Icy and slippery road conditions are also expected.
“Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions,” Environment Canada warns.
The weather forecaster suggests drivers slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
