Be prepared for a traffic slowdown on a major Brampton roadway starting next week as crews will be closing a stretch of Coleraine Dr. for watermain work.
Peel Public Works says new watermains and improvements to the existing sanitary sewer system on Coleraine Dr. will begin on Monday (May 8) and will lead to some road closures.
The Region says Coleraine will be closed from Countryside Dr. to Regional Rd. 50 for the construction. The southbound lane of Coleraine Dr. will be fully closed and the Region says residents and business owners within the closed area will only be able to access their properties from the northbound lane as no through traffic will be allowed.
The northbound lane will be directed by a flag person or Peel Police during construction hours, the Region said.
The watermain work is expected to last until at least September, and the Region is warning drivers to prepare for longer travel times due to the closing of the major north-south arterial road.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, and the Region says detour routes will be marked with road signs.
