Drivers on Hwy 401 faced a mess Wednesday (Oct. 19) morning in two separate crashes in Mississauga.
First, dump truck got stuck on a overpass around 7 a.m., closing all eastbound express lanes on Hwy 401 past Mississauga Road.
Then, OPP reported a three-vehicle crash right beside the dump truck box but in the collector lanes around 9:40 a.m.
It appears at least one driver was distracted by the truck stuck in an unusual upright position.
“People not paying attention,” said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt. “If you are going down the road, you got to look forward and be aware of changing traffic.”
One driver faces careless driving charges, he said.
There were no reports of serious injuries.
The collector lanes were down to two lanes and traffic was moving slowly. There were backups all the way through Mississauga and Milton as a result of the crash, Schmidt said.
