A transport truck was captured on video travelling on Hwy. 401 in Mississauga late Monday afternoon (May 15) with one of its back doors wide open.
The truck was travelling along the busy section of Mississauga highway near Dixie Rd., with plenty of traffic all around.
It’s not known if the trailer was empty or if it was carrying any goods, nor is it known if OPP or Peel Regional Police eventually spotted the potentially dangerous situation and pulled the truck over.
Both OPP and Peel police conduct regular truck safety blitzes throughout the year in Mississauga and Brampton during which they take large commercial vehicles off the road for roadside safety inspections.
Police officers taking part in such blitzes are trained to identify mechanical issues on the trucks that could pose a threat.
Peel police have a team of 12 to 14 Road Safety officers who are trained and certified to inspect trucks for safety issues.
Canada Road Safety Week, an enforcement initiative led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, kicks off today (May 16) and continues until Monday (May 22).
