Fight in a mall in Mississauga

A suspect is facing numerous charges after an altercation with mall security and then the police at a Mississauga Mall on December 30.

Peel Police say at 6:15 pm, the 22-year-old man was in a cell-phone store in Newin Centre near Hurontario and Dundas Street East when a “verbal altercation occurred between him and the employee” took place.

Before long, a mall security officer and the suspect were confronting one another before the police arrived.

Seeing the fight between the security officer and the suspect, the police joined the fray.

The police said the suspect struggled and would “not listen to the officer’s commands.”

Eventually a taser was used and the man was taken into custody.

Police say the suspect was taken to a local hospital “as a precaution and (was) cleared medically.”

The suspect is facing five charges including: being intoxicated in a public place, uttering threat to damage property, two counts of assaulting a peace officer and theft under $5,000.
