A brazen daylight robbery, captured on video, left one person with minor injuries in Mississauga.
Misk Jewelry at 3515 Odyssey Dr. said the store was robbed in a post on Instagram last week.
Peel Regional Police confirmed officers responded to a jewelry store robbery at Odyssey Drive and Ridgeway Drive around 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 28.
Several suspects entered the store and used hammers to smash display cases, police said.
The suspects then fled in a white SUV.
While Misk Jewelry said there were no injuries, police said one of the store employees was transported to hospital and treated for injuries to their hand.
Misk declined a request for comment stating they didn’t want to speak about the incident.
A video posted on social media shows a young person waiting at the door of the shop. He rings a doorbell and opens the door.
The young person holds the door open as a white SUV pulls into the parking lot. Five people wearing face coverings then enter the store.
There are smashing sounds and shouting then the men run back out of the store.
Another video shows the inside shows the robbers smashing cases and grabbing items. One staff member appears to confront the robbers and throws items at them.
Misk temporarily closed the store but hoped to reopen this week.
The incident follows recent smash-and-grab-style robberies. In November, seven people robbed a jewelry store in Dixie Mall. Another store was robbed in broad daylight in Brampton last month.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 905-453-2121 ext. 3410.
