A Mississauga man is going to be spending a lot of time in the air over the next year after sinking a nothing-but-net basketball in St. Catharines.

Every game in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) lucky audience member has a chance to win free Flair Airlines flights for a year if they sink two half-court shots.

The CEBL is a fairly new professional minor league founded in 2017. They’ve partnered with Flair Airlines, Canada’s sole low-fare airline, to award free

Before last night only one other person, Malcolm Williams of British Columbia, won the flights to any Flair location in Canada, Mexico or the United States. Williams was the first of 156 CEBL fans to sink both shots.

However, two weeks later, a Mississauga man secured his ticket for the plane. Tyson Taylor was in St. Catharines last night to watch the Niagara River Lions face off against the Fraser Valley Bandits.

He was selected during a break in the game to take the two shots managing to sink both. The second shot especially was a perfect swish hitting nothing but net.

The above video sees Taylor throw the shot, and the crowd erupt as the ball goes in. Taylor’s friend Dillon Brooks, a small forward with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, rushes over to celebrate.

Brooks, also from Mississauga has spent the last five years playing for the Grizzlies. He holds the record for the most point scored by a Canadian Rookie in their debut season.

By the time of Taylor’s shot, even more people had attempted to the shots. More than 200 people now tried and only two have succeeded.

Other challengers will still have their chance to win. Shot from the Dot features at every CEBL game for the rest of the summer. Tickets are available online. The CEBL is the largest sports league solely based in Canada with ten teams from six provinces.
