A Montreal-bound Air Canada flight from Casablanca, Morocco was cancelled on Friday following an incident between a flight attendant and a passenger.

The incident reportedly began when a passenger requested a blanket to keep warm due to excessive air conditioning. This raised tensions, leading the flight attendant to call local police to remove the passenger from the aircraft, which was on the tarmac preparing for takeoff.

Other passengers then decided to leave the plane in support of the traveller who had been removed, according to reports, leading Air Canada to cancel the flight.

According to data from Flightradar24.com, Air Canada flight AC73 was scheduled to depart Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport at 8:50 a.m. local time and arrive at Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport at 11:50 a.m. (EDT).

The aircraft involved is a 23-year-old Airbus A330-300, which carries some 300 passengers, according to ch-Aviation, an online aviation database.

A recent video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by user @fl360aero reportedly shows the incident involving a bilingual flight attendant yelling at passengers in both French and English, saying, “I don’t want any bullying against my crew, OK? Everyone behave.”

A man can then be heard commenting on the attendant’s behaviour, saying, “Look at this attitude right here.”

An Air Canada spokesperson said, “We are taking this incident very seriously. It is under review, and we will take appropriate action.”

The airline also apologized to its customers.

On Saturday, the same aircraft completed a rescheduled flight to Montreal. It’s not known if the flight attendant involved in the controversy was on board that flight.
