Police have released a video they say shows a home invasion in Markham during which a Ferrari and BMW were stolen.
York Regional Police said three suspects — all minors — have since been charged in connection with the incident, while two others remain outstanding.
On Monday at around 4 a.m., officers responded to the area of Steeles Avenue East and Grandview Avenue for a home invasion.
Police said five suspects entered the home by smashing the back door. At least two of the suspects were reportedly armed with hammers.
“The suspects threatened the victim, demanded the keys to his Ferrari and a BMW Sports Utility Vehicle and forced him to open his garage door,” police said.
The suspect vehicle, a stolen black Acura TLX, was located in the area of Martin Grove Road and Steeles Avenue in Toronto, police said.
“Members of the hold-up unit contained the vehicle and two youths were taken into custody shortly afterward,” officers said.
Officers believe that same vehicle was involved in a jewelry store robbery in Markham earlier this month on Oct. 21.
Meanwhile, the Ferrari that was stolen during the home invasion was found in the area of Highway 50 and Fogal Road in east Brampton, while the stolen BMW was recovered in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area of Toronto, police said.
On Wednesday, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Vaughan in relation to a third suspect, police said.
The suspect wasn’t in the residence, but was later located and arrested in Pickering, police said.
A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both from Markham, as well as a 15-year-old boy from Vaughan, have been charged with armed robbery, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and disguise with intent.
“At the time of the incident, the 17 year old was on probation and the 15 year old was on a release order for unrelated offences,” officers said.
Two suspects are still wanted, described as males aged 16 to 20 years old who were wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with information was asked to come forward.
