A deer made a splash in a public swimming pool in Ontario on the weekend.

The deer reportedly smashed through a glass window at a community centre, the Vollmer Recreation Complex, and then ran for the pool on Sunday (Feb. 25) in LaSalle, Ontario, a bedroom community to Windsor.

A video captured by Francesco Siino and posted to social media shows the deer heading to the edge of the pool with what appears to be staff members following behind.

“Y’all wouldn’t believe me if I told you a deer broke into the Vollmer Recreation Complex would ya,” Siino said in his posts on Facebook and Instagram.

The video clearly shows the deer jump into the pool and swim to the opposite side where it gets out and slides on the deck.

“Oh my God, the deer just went in the pool,” someone says on the video.

In another video, the deer is back in the pool swimming as a lifeguard attempts to get it out.

Siino told media outlets he was at his son’s Sunday afternoon swimming lesson when the deer entered the complex and took a brief swim around 2:30 p.m.

LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche told media outlets the deer jumped through a window and the pool had to be closed because of the broken glass.

Staff coaxed the deer back outside, Meloche said.

There were no injuries reported to the deer or any of the patrons in the facility.

Lifeguards cleared the pool and got people safely away from the area.
