Three armed bandits who robbed a Mississauga jewellery store and terrorized the owner and his family are being hunted by police.
The violent Tuesday afternoon (March 8) robbery at Lahore Jewellers on Airport Rd. was captured on the shop’s surveillance video, the incident later posted by the store owner to social media.
On the post, the owner notes the bandits, who terrorized him, his nine-year-old son and his father, 59, for more than four minutes, fled with more than $500,000 in gold jewellery.
Peel Regional Police, who said officers responded to the incident at about 3:15 p.m., are now searching for the trio of violent thugs.
The video shows three hooded men entering the Airport and Derry Rds. shop and moments later one of the culprits is seen pulling out a gun and pointing it at the shop owner’s father, who’s standing behind the counter.
The culprits can then be seen ransacking the store while the shop owner’s father is assaulted, thrown to the ground and briefly beaten.
Meanwhile, the nine-year-old boy can be heard screaming from the back room, the video shows.
The store owner’s father remains seated on the ground and can be heard praying, the video shows, while two of the bandits collect jewellery and the third keeps an eye on the young boy and his father in the back room.
The store owner’s father was reportedly treated at hospital for minor injuries.
The culprits all wore dark clothes, including hooded sweatshirts to conceal their identities.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-453-2121 or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
