$1 million in stolen construction equipment leads to charges for Brampton men

Reports of $1 million worth of stolen construction equipment in Vaughan have led to charges for three men including a pair from Brampton.

York Regional Police say investigators began looking into an increase in break-and-enters starting in May where suspects were targeting warehouses and wholesalers selling high-end construction tools and equipment.

The investigation led officers to a Toronto retailer where the stolen goods were being allegedly resold.

Then on July 31, York police say they responded to a break-and-enter in progress at a business on Confederation Parkway. When officers arrived they found the front doors had been ripped down from the building and the suspects had already fled.

Police then located the suspect vehicle at the Toronto retailer where the suspects were offloading stolen equipment, leading to three arrests.

Sukhmanpreet Singh and Lovepreet Singh, both 26 of Brampton, and Xue Zhou, 57, of Toronto, were arrested and face a combined 56 charges.

Two additional suspects and a suspect vehicle are still being sought by police and investigators have released a video of one of the break-ins.
