Police have identified the victim in a fatal workplace incident earlier this month as a 62-year-old from Woodbridge.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on June 1, the Caledon OPP say officers were called to a worksite on Abbotside Way near Kennedy Road in Caledon for reports of an unresponsive male.

Police say an investigation revealed the man was hit by a heavy excavation truck and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased has now been identified as Ernesto Campoli, 62, of Woodbridge.

Police said the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and OPP Forensic Identification Unit have been called in to assist with the investigation.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour and the Federal Department of Labour have been notified and will be investigating the incident.
