SHOOTING: Murder victim in Oshawa, Ontario identified

Police have identified the victim who was killed in a shooting on New Year’s Eve in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police were called to a residential building at 1040 Cedar St. around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, after receiving reports of an armed individual.

Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds inside the building. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday (Jan. 1, 2025)  the victim was identified as 29-year-old Dennis Binda of Oshawa.

There are currently no suspect images or descriptions available, while investigators believe the incident is isolated and poses no risk to public safety. Police are canvassing the area and urging anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam or home surveillance, to come forward.
