Update: Police officer struck, major Brampton road shut

Update: Peel Regional Police have confirmed the accident was caused by a car striking a police officer. The officer has been taken to a trauma centre in stable condition.
The driver is unharmed.
Update 2: Just after 2 a.m., police said Chinguacousy Road had reopened.

An accident has closed a stretch of a major Brampton road.
The southbound lanes of Chinguacousy Road are closed for about 700 metres between Bovaird Drive and Williams Parkway due to a collision, according to Peel Regional Police.
The 911 call came in shortly after 8 p.m. and police confirmed the crash online shortly after 9:30 p.m.
They said the road is expected to remain closed for several hours. They’ve advised drivers to avoid the area for that period and to use alternate routes instead.
They have not described the crash or confirmed if anyone was hurt as of this writing.
