A three-year-old boy who went missing in a west-end Mississauga park early Thursday evening has been found dead.

In an update on Friday night, Peel Regional Police confirmed the death after the body of Zaid Abdullah was found at about 5:40 p.m. in a creek near Erindale Park.

The child had last been seen at the Dundas Street West/Mississauga Road area park at about 6:20 p.m. on Thursday.

Peel police Supt. Josh Colley said Zaid was found near the creek. No foul play is suspected.

“We’re working to provide (the family) as much support as necessary during this horrific time. We ask for privacy (for the family),” police told reporters at the scene.

Colley described the situation as a “tragedy” for the family.
