The GTA could finally get a real blast of snow.
Snow closed roads, knocked out power and stranded drivers in the Muskoka area on the weekend. So far, the GTA hasn’t seen much more than light dustings.
But that is expected to change on Wednesday.
Snow is expected to start around 4 a.m. on Wednesday and continue throughout the day in Mississauga, Brampton and Toronto, according to the Weather Network.
There could be one to three centimetres in the morning, and another one to three centimetres in the afternoon, the Weather Network forecasts. More snow is expected, possibly around one to two centimetres, in the evening.
Toronto Pearson Airport predicts five to 10 centimetres of snow in the forecast on Wednesday.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has a more moderate forecast of two to four centimetres during the day and more snow in the evening in Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton.
Burlington and Oakville could get about two centimetres of snow, according to Environment Canada.
But the Niagara Region is currently under a snow squall watch with 10 to 15 centimetres of snow forecast starting Tuesday evening.
Durham Region could also get snow squalls on Wednesday morning with about five centimetres of snow.
Temperatures are expected to remain chilly this week with a highs of around 1 C on Wednesday dropping down to -6 C overnight.
More snow is forecast for Thursday, Friday and on the weekend.
