Wanted counterfeit

Two people are wanted after the alleged use of counterfeit cash in the Bowmanville Walmart.

Durham Police allege an unidentified man and woman went to the Walmart at 2320 Highway 2 on May 4. Police claim the pair used counterfeit cash to buy several items, though they did not say what was purchased.

The same pair are under investigation for similar crimes in other areas. However, Durham Police did not specify which regions these alleged crimes took place.

They described the man as white, thin, five-foot-eleven, and 21 to 35 years old. He has brown hair and wore black sunglasses, a black jacket, a white shirt, dark pants, and white shoes.

Police say the woman was also white, aged 25 to 40 with shoulder-length brown hair. She wore dark glasses, a grey or black sweater, dark pants, and black shoes.

“The Durham Regional Police Service Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) wants to remind the community that counterfeit currency is still being circulated throughout the region,” investigators said, “Everyone is encouraged to double check their bills when handling and receiving cash.”
