Two Mississauga postal codes reporting higher than average COVID-19 rates

Two areas in Mississauga are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario, according to recent data from Toronto-based research group ICES.
ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of October 24 to 30.
Of the top 50 listed, two are in Mississauga:
Postal code L4Y at 4.33%
40th highest positivity in Ontario
Postal code L5L at 3.93%
44th highest positivity in Ontario
For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of October 24 was 1.6%, up 0.1% from the previous week, according to ICES’s data.
The same data for the week indicates that out of all of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Peel had the 16th highest COVID-19 percent positivity at 1.62% (higher than Ontario overall at 1.55%).
Additionally, Peel Region’s interactive COVID-19 map shows which areas in the city are reporting higher rates than others.
For the week of October 24 to 30, the Region reports 94 new cases in Mississauga and 188 new cases in Peel overall.
