Buying a pair of lottery tickets turned into a more than $50,000 payday for a lucky man from Brampton.

Gurvinder Dhillon has been playing the lottery since turning 18, buying a pair of tickets for a recent Instant $50,000 draw from Hasty Market on Glen Erin Drive in Mississauga.

The 36-year-old father said he snagged the last two tickets and scratched them in the store revealing two wins – one for $50 and another for $50,000.

“I was surprised and in awe,” he said while picking up his winnings at the OLG prize centre in Toronto. “I had a moment of silence as I processed this and when the clerk asked me what happened, I said, ‘I won $50,000′”

Dhillon said telling his wife about the win was one of his best moments.

“She was shocked and speechless. It made me so happy to see her reaction,” he said.

Dhillon said he plans to use his win to travel and enjoy time with his family and may even splurge on “a rare comic book.”

Instant $50K is available for $50 and the top prize is $50,000. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.68. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
