A massive, 177-acre live-work community expected to transform and revitalize Mississauga’s waterfront has won two more awards.

Lakeview Village’s Harbourwalk Condos won a People’s Choice Award while the Lakeview Village Discovery Centre won Best Presentation Centre at the recent 2023 BILD Awards.

The BILD Awards recognize excellence and innovation in the design, construction, sales and marketing of new homes in the GTA. They’ve been presented annually since 1980 by the Building Industry and Land Development Association.

“The myriad awards celebrate all phases of bringing a new community to life from land use to technical suite design to creative marketing techniques,” BILD officials said.

The 19-storey, 863-suite Harbourwalk Condos, built by Tridel, are located in the heart of Lakeview Village “just steps away from the beautiful shores of Lake Ontario and a newly revitalized boardwalk and pier (that will extend) 600 metres along the water, the longest on the Canadian Great Lakes,” the builder says.

“This brand new mixed-use community will offer pedestrian-friendly promenades and cyclist-friendly streets winding through the development, connecting them to over 45 acres of on-site natural green spaces, parks, playgrounds and outdoor amenity space.”

Expected occupancy for the Harbourwalk Condos is summer 2028, according to the builder.

The Lakeview Village Discovery Centre is essentially a “central gathering place for community residents and visitors,” Lakeview Village builders say.

It’s located at 985 Hydro Rd. and is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Discovery Centre offers:

  • sustainably designed community destination and sales centre
  • an immersive and interactive hub for engagement and awareness surrounding the Lakeview Village Master Plan
  • events, activations and specialty programming
  • art and educational exhibitions
  • culinary, cultural and musical experiences

When completed, the Lakeview Village community will feature transit-connected housing, office space, retail, restaurants, trails, parks, greenspace and cultural and recreational amenities.

The community will also be connected to the nearby 64-acre Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area, named for the late city councillor who worked to bring the project to fruition.

Last month, the provincial government gave the green light for Lakeview Village to nearly double its initial density, from 8,050 housing units to 16,000.

The Lakeview Village Discovery Centre won Best Presentation Centre at the BILD Awards.
