Customers across Mississauga and parts of Ontario are reporting they are without service tonight for both television and internet services.

The Rogers website indicates there are network outages in parts of the GTA and that the situation is being assessed. The number of customers affected is not listed but the website says services impacted include internet and television.

Customers were also complaining about the loss of cellphone service but Rogers has indicated that cellphones were not affected by the disruption.

There is no timeline given when service will be restored.

However, users of social media across Mississauga say there have been disruptions since early this evening.

As well, Downdector, an independent electronic services monitoring website, indicates thousands may be affected by either disruptions or complete outages.

As of 9 p.m., Downtector says 55,000 Rogers customers have been affected, mostly in Mississauga and surrounding areas.

Update: Rogers provided a statement early Friday (Jan. 5) morning.

“Some customers in parts of Greater Toronto Area may have experienced a brief degradation to their residential services this evening due to a technical issue,” the statement reads. “Services have now been restored for all customers. We sincerely apologize to our impacted customers for the service interruption.”
