A Liberal Party fundraiser with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and MP Shafqat Ali in attendance was met by a large crowd of protesters outside a banquet hall in Mississauga on Friday evening.

The event, reportedly priced at $1,500 per ticket, drew vocal opposition from pro-Palestinian protesters, who were critical of the Canadian government’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Videos shared on social media by political satirist Caryma Sa’d show protesters confronting attendees and shouting slogans like “They’re killing children” and “Shame on you” as people entered the venue.

Some protesters also directed comments such as “Go back to your country” at a couple that were making their way to the banquet hall.

At one point, tensions escalated as protesters confronted Peel Regional Police officers while attempting to block Trudeau’s entrance to the event.

One video seems to show law enforcement involved in managing the situation, though Peel police have not provided an official comment regarding the altercation.

A chain of protesters can be seen sitting along the entrance, blocking vehicles from entering the venue.

Police reportedly struggled to clear the way for the vehicle carrying Prime Minister Trudeau on their first attempt due to the large crowd of protesters blocking the entrance.

As of now, officials have not commented on the incident or confirmed the authenticity of the $1,500 ticket pricing reported through social media posts.

In addition, authorities have not reported any injuries or arrests from the protest despite videos circulating online showing several heated exchanges between protesters and attendees.
