Police have charged a Brampton man with dangerous operation after a transport truck was spotted heading the wrong way down a bust Ontario highway.
The dangerous incident happened just after 8 p.m. on Monday when the driver of a transport truck exited onto Highway 401 near Napanee, approximately 46 kilometres west of Kingston, the OPP says.
Police say the driver entered the 401 heading in the wrong direction at Palace Road and multiple drivers witnessed the transport truck headed eastbound on the north shoulder in the westbound lanes of the highway.
The driver managed to turn the truck around at a westbound service centre and was later located by police headed westbound on the 401.
Police say the 48-year-old driver of the truck was arrested and charged with dangerous operation.
The OPP says Balwinder Dhaliwal, 48, of Brampton, has been charged with one count of dangerous operation.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Greater Napanee on Nov. 19 to answer the charges.
