Main road in Mississauga partially closed.

A section of a major road in one of Mississauga’s busiest corridors will partially close to traffic for three days next week while repairs are completed.

Region of Peel officials responsible for infrastructure upkeep said in an online update a new water main is being installed Tuesday through Thursday along a section of Burnhamthorpe Road West near the City Centre.

In order for the work to be completed, westbound Burnhamthorpe Road West, between Elora Drive and Parkside Village Drive, will be reduced to one lane all three days between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Regional officials said in their update “the work is required to maintain and improve existing water services” and that “at this stage in the project, a temporary lane reduction will be required to complete this work.”

They added drivers in the area should expect delays and use alternate routes, if possible.

Project leaders also advise pedestrians, cyclists and motorists to be careful in such construction zones and obey all signs.

“When driving, walking or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays and consider other routes, if possible.”
