Two express lanes of the eastbound Highway 401 in Mississauga are closed to traffic after a tractor trailer lost part of its load this afternoon.

According to OPP Highway Safety Division officers, the mishap occurred on the busy highway at Mavis Road at about 2 p.m. when “a tractor trailer’s load shifted, scattering debris on the highway.”

There is no word on any injuries.

Reports from the scene say eastbound traffic is backed up as far as Erin Mills Parkway.

OPP say drivers should expect continued delays as the cleanup and investigation continue.
