What was once a single-family home could turn into a townhouse complex in Aldershot if all goes according to plan.

Proposed for 236 Plains Road East, the proposal calls for the removal of the house and replaced with a four-storey condominium townhouse block consisting of six units.

City of Burlington planning staff is in support of the project.

A public meeting to discuss the project will be included in next week’s agenda for Burlington’s committee of the whole which includes all members of city council.

Other aspects of the project indicate the units would be comprised of two- and three-bedroom households. Access to the complex would be from Plains Road onto a private street.

The complex will accommodate 14 parking spaces.

According to a city planning report, following a previous public meeting, some members voiced concerns about the project that centred on the height of the buildings, traffic, density, and the retaining of mature trees. Some complained that the size of the project would infringe on the privacy of those who live in adjacent dwellings.

The committee of the whole starts at 9:30 a.m. on July 8. and can be viewed by following the online link to the meeting.

Members of the public can speak at the meeting by contacting the city clerk’s office at 905-335-7600, ext. 7481.
