Top 5 trending Halloween costumes in Canada

Halloween is quickly approaching and there are just a few days to choose a costume.

For those still struggling to come up with an idea, Google has compiled a list of the most-searched costume ideas for adults, kids, couples, groups, do-it-yourself and pop culture in Canada.

There is a resurgence of classic costumes such as clowns and witches, Google notes.

“This year, we’re seeing a fascinating comeback of timeless Halloween looks, fuelled by a mix of nostalgia, viral trends, and recent pop culture influences,” the search engine notes. “And it’s clear that DIY is king. Canadians are embracing their creative spirit and putting a personal spin on Halloween.”

This year the top pop culture moments that inspire Halloween costumes come from movies and the Olympics.

The viral Olympic performance from Australian break dancer Rachael Gunn, also known as Raygun, makes the top five costume ideas.

Movie reboots for the Joker and Beetlejuice are inspiring costumes as are Deadpool and Wolverine, according to Google.

U.S. singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter is also in the top five.

For those eager to find the winning group ensemble, the top trending group costume for Halloween in Canada over the past 90 days is Alvin and the Chipmunks, followed by Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Inside Out and Scooby Doo.

For do-it-yourselfers, Tinkerbell, cat, killer clown, witch and Inside Out were revealed as the top trending DIY costumes over the past three months.
