Sometimes, after a hard hour at the gym or a very long day at work, you want steak and fries. The challenge? Satisfying your craving without breaking the bank.
Sometimes they call it steak & frites (fancy!) and sometimes, if you order it that way, you might get punched in the face or get a weird look. But no matter what, here are the top five steak and frites in Mississauga under $25!
5 – Super Mack
This is one place where you don’t ask for steak and frites. Just ask for steak and fries. This resto was a pleasant surprise. I never really went here when I was younger, since it was always closed when we got back from clubbing. The food is actually really good and it’s the best bargain you’re going to get for steak and fries by far. I say bargain, but the actual steak was cooked perfectly to order (medium rare) and the NY sirloin was well-seasoned. The fries were nice and crispy and all that you see below is just $15! It even came with garlic bread that had garlic on both sides and a salad!
$15 – NY Sirloin dinner
4 – Ballers Bistro
You might not think a snookball facility would have good food, but this one does. Ballers Bistro is broken down into four areas: the actual snookball area, the bar, the restaurant and the VIP spot. In all the areas, you can grab food and the food is delicious. They even have beef wellington on the menu on Wednesday’s (but it wasn’t Wednesday when I went). The steak was cooked perfectly with some onions on top and the fries were nice and crispy. They even throw in some onion rings for good measure!
$21.99 – Certified Angus Beef Top Sirloin
3 – Failte
Failte, known for their chicken wings and fish and chips, can also be known for their steak and frites. I was surprised they call them frites, but they do. The steak is grilled on a flat iron and tastes amazing. The inside was nice and red and with the beef gravy, it was absolutely delicious. It came with fries that had truffle mayo and Guinness and harp onion rings. Try to get a piece of steak and fries on the same fork and smother it with the beef gravy. You will remember it for the rest of the night.
$25 – 10 oz. grilled steak with fresh cut fries, Guinness & harp onion rings, truffle mayo & beef gravy
2 – The Wilcox
The Wilcox is known for cooking almost everything in house and they have some of the best steak and frites around. If you didn’t know, The Wilcox is in a heritage home that has been around since the 1850s and is now a modern restaurant. The steak is cooked perfectly with some red inside and the fries are some of the best we’ve had in a while. The meat is drizzled with pesto, which is a great touch. For $19, how can you go wrong!
$19 – Steak Chimichurri and fries
1 – Union Social
What else can be said about Union Social other than they serve good food? It isn’t any different with their steak frites. You get the best cut of meat on this list and you get it with green peppercorn chive butter. I have no idea what that is, but I will tell you that once you have it in your mouth, the only thing you will care about is how fast you will have the next bite and how nobody better ask for a piece of your steak. The fries were also the best on the list, as they were truffle fries and therefore tasted like heaven.
$22.78 – Eight oz. certified Angus sirloin, hand-cut fries, green peppercorn chive butter
