As the peak summer travel season comes to an end, savvy adventurers may look to fall for cheaper trips.

Travelling during the off-season or shoulder season can be a good way to save money and help communities, adventure travel company Intrepid Travel said in their fall report.

“Traveling during the shoulder season has many benefits for the traveler like better deals and less crowds but it can also benefit the communities they visit,” Christian Wolters, general manager of Canada at Intrepid Travel said. “Opting to travel during the off season can alleviate overtourism in places feeling the burden during peak season,”

Intrepid found Canadians are looking to take big, international trips in fall 2024.

Morocco is the most popular destination with three different types of Intrepid trips.

The top three countries are Morocco, Japan and Turkey.

A premium, 12-day culture and cuisine trip to Japan is the third most popular trip.

A 15-day “all-encompassing adventure” in Turkey was in the fifth spot.
