A door-kicking challenge appears to be back in Mississauga.

The challenge involves kicking the door of a random home, often late at night, and then leaving. The prank is not unlike “nicky nicky nine doors” or “ding dong ditch” of several decades ago, but it’s more aggressive and is posted on social media.

Back in late 2021, OPP posted a video of three youths kicking a door in Port Dover and warned others not to engage in the potentially dangerous social media trend.

The challenge appears to have continued in Canada and the U.S. Earlier this year, five youths were arrested in Indiana after engaging in the challenge.

And in February, Cobourg Police identified two 13-year-old youths “involved youths in a mischief investigation linked to a TikTok challenge.”

It appears as if the challenge is happening in the Churchill Meadows area of Mississauga.

Three teens “aggressively kicked on the front door” of a Churchill Meadows area home on Monday (May 27), according to a post on the Mississauga sub-Reddit page.

“Looks like this tiktok trend is still going on,” the poster wrote.

The poster said they contacted police after it happened a second time.

Peel Regional Police did not immediately respond to a request for information from insauga.com on the issue.

The Churchill Meadows resident is hoping a video doorbell will discourage the group.

Two other residents reported similar door-kicking incidents in Mississauga.

“3 kids matching your description came to my door 11:55am on Wednesday May 29,” one person wrote.

Police advise youth not to engage in this type of challenge for their own safety.

“Online challenges often target youth and can pose serious risks,” the Cobourg Police noted earlier this year.  “Some challenges encourage harmful and sometimes criminal behaviours. Kids and teens may unknowingly put themselves in dangerous or illegal situations driven by the desire for online recognition.”
