Thunderstorms could impact flights in and out of Pearson Airport in Mississauga today.

The heat continues today with temperatures feeling like 36 C with the humdix. It appears the storms and rain, which flooded roads and closed a furniture store in Burlington, will return today.

Thunderstorms are possible today along with 15 to 25 mm of rain, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The Weather Network predicts potentially “severe” thunderstorms in parts of Ontario. Radar shows a strong band of storms arriving around 11 a.m. or noon.

“If you’re travelling today, you may want to pack an umbrella as a band of rain and thunderstorms  moves towards the GTA,” Pearson posted on X. “We’re tracking the potential storm which may bring  lightning that can disrupt airport operations and affect flights.”

There was also a severe weather forecast at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, the airport posted on X.

But as of 7 a.m. this morning, all 17 flights connecting travellers from Pearson to O’Hare International Airport are on time, Pearson said.
