Three people face charges, including attempted murder, after two separate shootings in Brampton.
The first shooting occurred way back on July 31. Several rounds were fired into a home near Mayfield Rd. and Dixie Rd. in the city’s northwestern reaches.
Nearly two weeks later, on August 11, at around 1:30 a.m. shots rang out again this time near Queen St. and Dixie Rd. about 7.5 kilometres away and closer to the city centre. When police arrived they found two men who had been shot.
Months later, in November, police charged three people in the shootings, but only one of them for both.
Police charged Emely Nagulendran, a 23-year-old Brampton woman, with firing a gun with intent for the first shooting. She was also charged with five counts of attempted murder for the second shooting.
Additionally, a 15-year-old boy was charged with discharging a firearm with intent for the first shooting. His identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Finally, Jaheim Powell, 21 from Brampton, was charged with five counts of attempted murder, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of narcotics with intent to traffic.
Powell and Nagulendran remained in custody until their bail hearings.
