This week’s weather: Sunny first week of September with a little rain

It looks like the rain will take a halt as sunshine is back and will stick around for most of the week in southern Ontario!

As Labour Day weekend wraps up and many prepare for the back-to-school rush, the lingering summer weather is expected to keep most residents in good spirits.

As of today (Sept. 1), the forecast calls for a sunny start to the day with temperatures reaching 24 C. There is a 40 per cent chance of afternoon rain across all cities, with wind speeds expected to reach 40 km/h.

Skies will begin to clear by evening, but clouds are expected to return around midnight. Winds could increase again to 40  before gradually calming down by morning. Temperatures will drop to 11 C.

Residents will be greeted by another round of sunshine on Monday. Though it will be slightly windy at 40 km/h, daytime temperatures will rise to 20 C.

The UV index will hit a high level of 7. Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

By evening, the skies will clear up as temperatures drop to a crisp 9 C —making it the coolest night out of the week!

Tuesday brings crystal clear skies with no clouds in sight during the day. Temperatures will move up to 23 C. Cloudy periods will settle in by the evening with temperatures falling to a chilly 11 C.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature a mix of sun and clouds, with daytime highs reaching 25 C —making them the warmest days of the week. By the evening, temperatures will drop between 14 C and 15 C. Wednesday evening will see some cloudy periods, while Thursday evening is expected to be mostly cloudy.

Friday and Saturday will be predominantly cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of rain. Daytime temperatures will range from 20 C to 23 C. By evening, cooler conditions will set in, with lows dropping between 11 C and 12 C.
