It’s going to be a rainy start to the week in southern Ontario, but sunshine is expected to break through in the second half.

As of today (Sept. 22), the forecast calls for a foggy morning which will give way to clouds and sunshine. Daytime temperatures will reach 26 C before slipping to 17 C by the evening. There is also a 30 per cent chance of overnight rain.

Monday will kick start on a rainy note with a possibility of tuning into a thunderstorm. Temperatures will rise to 23 C with the UV index climbing to a moderate level of 4.

Environment Canada advises protecting your skin when the UV index is three or higher, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The humidex is anticipated to hit 29, making conditions slightly uncomfortable for some individuals.

Additionally, Health Canada says that if outdoors, individuals should seek shade, wear protective clothing and hats, apply SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, avoid tanning, use UV-protective sunglasses and stay hydrated throughout the day.

Cloudy skies are expected by evening, with a 40 per cent chance of either showers or drizzle. Temperatures will fall to 17 C.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be predominantly cloudy, with a 60 per cent chance of rain throughout the day. Temperatures will range between 20 C and 22 C. By evening, the region is anticipated to cool down between 12 C and 15 C.

Residents can expect to see sunshine on Thursday through Saturday, with a few cloudy periods. Daytime highs will range from 21 C to 24 C, while evening temperatures will drop to a chilly 12 C to 13 C — marking the coolest nights of the week and signalling the arrival of fall-like weather.
