All dogs into the pool. For one day, anyway.

Mississauga is hosting its annual Dogs Only Swim Party on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Lion’s Club of Credit Valley Outdoor Pool in Port Credit.

Throughout the day, dog lovers are invited to bring their four-legged pals to the pool with some splashing around and other fun all in the mix.

But the splashing around is for dogs only. People must remain on the pool deck while their dogs are enjoying the swim.

“If your dog could use some excitement, exercise and an opportunity to socialize with other dogs, then this event is perfect for you,” City of Mississauga officials said in a news release. “Since the launch of Mississauga’s Dog Swim in 2019, this event has brought the community together annually for a good cause. Donations collected online or in-person during the registration process will go towards Mississauga Animal Services.”

Organizers say space is limited, so those interested are urged to register prior to the event if possible.

To participate in the event, dog owners must complete a mandatory waiver form and adhere to all swimming pool rules. Included in the rules is that dogs must be vaccinated in order to take part in the swim.

Cost to take part is a donation to Mississauga Animal Services. Donations are not required, but are encouraged.

Swim schedule for the day is divided into five sections: 9:45 – 10:45 a.m., 11 a.m. – noon, 12:15 – 1:15 p.m., 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 – 3:45 p.m.

Donations go toward the following:

  • purchase shelter items and medications for the animals
  • provide extra veterinary care and specialized surgeries
  • support spay and neuter of adoption animals
  • provide funds to the animal foster care program for specialized diets and care
  • fund animal housing improvements
