With summer weather still in the air, it’s the perfect time to enjoy some family-friendly outdoor events. Here’s a look at what’s happening this weekend in Mississauga:


September 6

First Friday Night Market

Join the Streetsville BIA for First Fridays in The ‘Ville, a lively evening event perfect for shopping and entertainment. The outdoor market will have handcrafted products, artisanal foods and unique finds. Attendees can enjoy live music as part of the Summer Music Concert series.

Where: 213 Queen St. S. —Streetsville Village Square.
Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.


Southside Shuffle Blues and Jazz Festival

The annual Tim Hortons Southside Shuffle is a non-profit, award-winning blues and jazz festival held in Port Credit. This three-day outdoor festival features performances from over 40 Canadian and international acts across three stages at Port Credit Memorial Park. The festival also includes a free Saturday afternoon street party, the LIUNA Local 183 Street Shuffle, with over 20 musical acts. The park offers food vendors, an artisan market and both free and ticketed stages.

Wonderfest

WonderFest is an annual event dedicated to empowering through art. This year, in addition to celebrating Mississauga’s 50th anniversary, the festival will feature live music, visual art, stop-motion animation, and spoken word from emerging and award-winning local artists.

Time:  8 p.m. to 10 p.m.


September 7

Portugalo Fest

Experience Portugal’s rich and vibrant traditions at this outdoor festival. The day will feature musical performances, food vendors and marketplace stalls. Attendees are asked to note that the event is weather-permitting and may change.

Where: 300 City Centre Dr.
Time: 1 p.m. – 11 p.m.


Port Credit Farmers’ Market

Discover artisanal fare and unique gifts as you stroll along the scenic lakeshore. Make a day of it by exploring nearby parks and visiting the iconic Port Credit Lighthouse.

Where: 20 Lakeshore Rd. E. (Port Credit Library parking lot.)
Time: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.


Streetsville Community Car Show

In partnership with the Streetsville Legion Branch 139, the Streetsville BIA is hosting the Community Car Show. The event will include a display of classic and unique cars, vendors, food from Nox Wine Bar and Taco Cat and a licensed bar by The Legion.

There will also be  Live music by River North, with free activities for children including temporary tattoos, crafts and face painting. Attendees will get a chance to vote for their favourite car, with the winning car’s owner receiving dinner for two at a local restaurant.

Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.


Mississauga Parkinson Canada SuperWalk

The annual event is a 1 km walk to support Canadians living with Parkinson’s disease. Proceeds fund research, advocacy, and support services for those affected by Parkinson’s.

Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.


September 8

Mississauga-Malton Community BBQ

The Malton Community Centre is hosting a free community BBQ. This event offers an opportunity to enjoy food and connect with the community.

Where: 3540 Morning Star Dr.
Time: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.


Lakeview Farmers Market

Held at the picturesque Small Arms Inspection Building, this community event showcases local talent through food, art, and craftsmanship. Visitors can explore displays featuring unique trinkets and beautiful creations from local artisans.

Time: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.


Meadowvale Theatre Open House

Visit Meadowvale Theatre for an open house featuring a range of activities. Attendees can meet artists from upcoming shows, listen to live music, enjoy free ice cream (while supplies last), make crafts, walk on the auditorium stage, play musical instruments, participate in a theatre scavenger hunt and purchase tickets for future performances.
