Holiday events are beginning to pop up around the city, along with concerts, art exhibitions and lively musicals adding to the festive spirit. Here’s what’s happening from Nov. 8 to Nov. 10:
November 8
5th Annual Indigenous Art Exhibition 2024 (Nov. 5 to Nov. 21)
The Art Mashkiki Exhibition brings together Indigenous artists from diverse backgrounds to showcase their creativity and share inspirational works. Sponsored by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, this year’s event includes an Opening Night on Nov. 8.

Out of the Vault – (Sept. 26 to Dec. 15)
The Bradley Museum will host an exhibition marking the City of Mississauga’s 50th anniversary. In celebration of this milestone, the Museums of Mississauga have hidden 50 artifact markers from their historic collection throughout the city as part of the History Hunt. Starting September 26, these artifacts will be taken “out of the vault” and displayed at the museum.
Visitors are invited to explore the unique stories behind each artifact, offering a glimpse into Mississauga’s rich heritage over the past five decades.

Generation X Marks the Spot: Black History in Mississauga
Curated by Dayo Kefentse, this exhibition at the Bradley Museum explores the history of young Caribbean Canadians in Mississauga during the 1980s. Through an audio documentary and a new interview with former Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Ingrid Pellew-Berkeley, the project examines the impact of the Black Action Defense Committee and the story of Michael Wade Lawson. It is funded by the BIPOC Community Curator Program.

Merry Market – celebrating 5 years of handmade
Support over 100 local businesses this holiday season. Hello Happy will be hosting a food drive, with donations going to a local charity.

School Of Rock Musical – (Nov. 1 to Nov. 10, 2024)
Get ready to rock with Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who finds himself posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. When Dewey discovers his students’ hidden musical talents, he transforms the straight-A students into a full-blown rock band, all while trying to avoid detection by the school’s headmistress and the student’s parents. Will they make it to the Battle of the Bands?

Huron Park Clean-Up
Join Mississauga Parks staff for a community clean-up at Huron Park. Supplies will be provided for all registered participants. Volunteer hours are available upon request.

Community Invasive Species Control: Groundcovers
Join Mississauga’s Forestry team in removing invasive groundcover plants from Cawthra Park. The event includes an introduction to the area’s history and ecology, along with information on the impacts of invasive species and methods for their management.

Celebrity 30th Celebration
Presented by the Celebrity Symphony Orchestra, this event marks the orchestra’s 30th anniversary with an evening of world-famous arias, duets, songs, and dances. Conducted by Maestro Andrzej Rozbicki, the concert features over 100 artists, including soloists from Poland and Canada, the Levada & Orion Choir, and special guest performers.

November 10
An immersive sound healing session designed to promote relaxation, reduce stress and restore balance. Attendees will experience the soothing vibrations of crystal bowls, singing bowls and other instruments. Sage will be provided as part of a cleansing ritual, with essential oil blends available to enhance the session. Participants are advised to bring a mat, pillow and blanket for comfort.

A Bruckner & Holst Celebration

Celebrate 50 – Open Rehearsal
In honour of Mississauga’s 50th anniversary, the NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir, in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Mississauga will hold an open rehearsal for the 2024-2025 season. The event features live music, including a performance by special guest Mikey Bloom, and access to the nearby art gallery’s current exhibition.
